Kingsborough Community College and InStride team up to help working adults earn undergraduate degrees
CUNY campus to offer associate degrees to corporate employees with no previous college experience, the first step for many to attain higher education
NEW YORK CITY & LOS ANGELES — October 6, 2021 — As more employers place education and development at the forefront of their talent strategy, Kingsborough Community College, a campus of the City University of New York, will provide associate degrees to InStride’s growing network of corporate partners. Employees with no previous college experience will have the opportunity to earn a debt-free associate degree in a range of fields, from tourism and hospitality to community health and business administration, with the ability to automatically transfer into a CUNY bachelor’s degree program.
To date, InStride’s network has expanded access to higher education to more than 42,000 working adult learners, saving them more than $400 million in student debt. These learners, like many of today’s college students, are fully employed while earning their degree.
“InStride is leading a movement to bring high-quality workforce education to all,” shares InStride CEO Vivek Sharma. “Institutions like Kingsborough Community College have demonstrated their commitment to the same ideals on which InStride was founded, meeting their students where they are and offering high-quality education to prepare them for the future of work. We are immensely proud to work with the faculty at KCC.”
“Our motto at Kingsborough is ‘Dreams Begin Here,’” shared Kingsborough Community College president, Dr. Claudia V. Schrader. “We are thrilled at the prospect of reaching students far beyond New York City, and excited to see all the things our students can accomplish after experiencing all that Kingsborough has to offer.”
InStride has agreements with a curated network of quality global academic institutions including Arizona State University, City University of New York, the University of Virginia, the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Memphis. Through their academic network, InStride serves tens of thousands of adult learners at more than 40 corporations.
